These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ClearSplit, operated by ClearSplit ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use ClearSplit.
You must be at least 13 years old to use ClearSplit. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on your behalf.
ClearSplit is a personal finance and group expense coordination tool. It helps you create expense ledgers, split bills, scan receipts, track balances, record loans, and open UPI payment links in third-party payment apps.
ClearSplit does not hold, process, or transfer funds. All payments happen directly between users through third-party apps (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, etc.). We have no involvement in, and take no responsibility for, those transactions.

ClearSplit uses AI to provide the following features:
These features are powered by third-party AI providers (currently OpenAI). Data sent for AI processing is subject to those providers' data handling policies. We do not sell this data. By using these features, you consent to this processing.
On Android, ClearSplit can optionally read SMS messages to detect payment transactions. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in your device settings. We read only messages that match payment or banking patterns — personal messages are never read, stored, or transmitted.
ClearSplit offers free and paid (Pro) plans.
ClearSplit and its logo, design, and features are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the app. Your expense data belongs to you — we do not claim ownership over content you create.
ClearSplit is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that balance calculations will always be accurate. Use of the app and reliance on any expense data is at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ClearSplit and its creators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for:
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of ClearSplit shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim (or ₹500, whichever is greater).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or use it for fraudulent or illegal purposes. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, which permanently removes your data from our systems.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top and, for material changes, notify you via the app or by email. Continued use of ClearSplit after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from your use of ClearSplit shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India. We will always try to resolve disputes informally first — email us at [email protected] before initiating any legal proceedings.
